In Praise of Summer
1 min readAug 28, 2019
Please don’t tell me summer is almost gone
or that you feel a chill in the air.
Don’t wash away the days and watch them prematurely
melt into fall and winter’s shade.
Instead, tell me you are here now
with white anemone blooms and Virgo sun.
Bathe in the light of the August glow,
take your soul for a stroll,
your imagination for a run.
Be here now in sanguine light, warm day’s breeze,
and waft of wondrous white butterfly.
For now is all we have.
It is not to be rushed.
But savored, loved, and lingered in.
